About Datadog

We're on a mission to build the best observability platform in the world for engineers to understand and scale their systems, applications, and teams.  We operate at high scale—trillions of data points per day—providing always-on alerting, metrics visualization, logs, and application tracing for tens of thousands of companies. Our engineering culture values pragmatism, honesty, and simplicity to solve hard problems the right way.

The Opportunity

The Metrics Query team owns and operates the "read" side of Datadog’s metrics platform. Our systems provide the APIs and interfaces for querying time series data. These systems parse, plan, execute, and cache trillions of queries per day. Our challenge is to efficiently and pragmatically scale these systems while continuing to add new capabilities that delight our customers.

  • Help design, build, and operate the next-generation query systems that will unlock new use cases for Datadog across observability, business analytics, AI/ML, and beyond.
  • Work closely with adjacent teams operating storage and intake systems to provide the best end-to-end platform solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers across Datadog to build features that exceed our customers’ expectations and work seamlessly across data platforms.
  • Occasionally be on call for your team’s services, responding to alerts to ensure we’re always operational for our customers.

Required Qualifications

  • You have a BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • You have several years of experience leading cross-team initiatives in a platform or infrastructure-focused environment
  • You have experience with query systems and/or time-series databases
  • You have led the design and delivery of industry-leading systems

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits and Growth

  • Competitive global benefits
  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)

Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.
