Strategic Partner

  • Ability to identify, analyze and propose strategic initiatives to leadership and the executive committee for security operations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Store Leaders, Asset Protection teams and campus leaders to align security operation initiatives to their respective business operations
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local and state law enforcement, federal agencies, third party vendors, other retailers and community organizations

Leadership

  • Develop and coordinate recruitment, selection criteria and the training and development for security operations positions
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to security operations
  • Lead the implementation and communication of best practices related to security operations
  • Manage legal compliance issues to ensure security operations is compliant by city, state or federal law and regulation
  • Negotiate and manage agreements for security related equipment contracts for alarms, cameras and other investigation tools for new and existing stores
  • Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments and provide guidance to leadership for reducing security risks
  • Oversee investigations involving crimes or actions committed against Scheels by internal or external individuals or groups
  • Ensure investigative protocols are properly followed and monitor for consistency in meeting Scheels standards of investigation
  • Develop and implement emergency and security protocols for Scheels campus and store locations including potential and actual emergency response, protests and civil unrest
  • Collaborate with Scheels firearm compliance team to ensure proper security and control of firearms and ammunition as well as compliance of all applicable firearms laws
  • Collaborate with Scheels inventory leaders on best practices for inventory control, processes and procedures
  • Collaborate with Scheels IT and Ecommerce teams on Cyber Security risks and vulnerabilities
  • Lead shrink reduction and profit growth through improved shrink initiatives
  • Develop data analytics that can be utilized to create awareness, develop training and monitor potential risks related to security operations
  • Exercise judgment and tact and effectively work with all levels within the organization

  • The ideal candidate will have an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field;
  • A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in law enforcement, military or other security operations role or a combination thereof;
  • Expert level execution of writing reports, leading investigations and developing and leading programs without a blueprint;
  • Ability to build strong relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders;
  • Experience in building and leading teams
  • Ability to pass an extensive background check, personality assessment and drug test

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred certificate(s) or license(s): Certified Protection Professional (CPP); Physical Security Professional (PSP), Investigative Interviewing Techniques;

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

HEAVY WORK: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
