ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director of Security Architecture & Engineering, the Information Security Engineer is responsible for contributing to the development, maintenance, and implementation of the Information Security program at HUB International.

The Information Security Engineer functions as a member of the Security Architecture & Engineering team and interacts with technical and business units to plan and implement information security solutions and support information security incidents. This role requires strong teamwork skills and leadership qualities and must be able to foster and maintain business relationships with both technical and business units, must be a great communicator.

Responsibilities

  • Protect the integrity and confidentiality of HUB data and infrastructure while enabling business functionality in all systems and environments by supporting applicable security solutions.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of security projects as well as provide ongoing operational support.
  • Develop security requirements, standards, and reference architectures to comply with policies and technical standards.
  • Participate in technical analysis and troubleshooting of complex software, systems, hardware, and network environments.
  • Serving as a security subject matter expert in a consultative capacity with various technical and engineering teams to ensure appropriate security protections are in place to protect our company assets. This includes a strong focus on cloud security and encryption technologies.
  • Builds partnerships with other teams and is a source of expertise in security best practices.
  • Evaluate business processes and IT technology, identify security risks, process gaps, and evaluate IT controls.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain security infrastructure software and hardware.
  • Analyze trends, news and changes in threat and compliance environment with respect to organizational risk.
  • Provide Level III Support for tickets escalated from within the team other technical teams.
  • Work with the SOC to identify and tune Threat Detection Use cases. Investigate and respond to alerts.
  • Explores and assesses the latest technology trends, disruptions, and security/IT service business models to ensure Business Technology maintains, and improves, organization cyber competitive edge.
  • Provides strong leadership and direction to team members. Provide subject matter expertise across all Cybersecurity technologies.
  • Support the HUB Information Security Governance & Compliance team as needed during risk assessments, internal and external Information Security Audits, and Vendor reviews.
  • Gather and report on key organizational information security metrics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in discipline appropriate to assignment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in an Information Security role.
  • Demonstrated experience of a progressive track record of technical achievement and a strong focus toward customer service and satisfaction.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Extensive experience working with and managing AD.
  • Familiarity with SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation & Response) products
  • Intermediate to Expert level proficient in endpoint detection response/EDR, anti-virus/malware detection tools, threat intelligence platforms, and SIEMs tools.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and concepts including TCP, UDP, TLS, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, VPN, and Web proxies.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience interpreting results of industry standard security scanning / analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated incident response experience including malware, endpoint, anti-virus, and detection and response solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to lead projects.
  • Ability to coordinate and perform multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and deliverables.
  • Working understanding of frameworks ISO27001, MITRE, and NIST.
  • Understanding of HIPAA/PCI and how it relates to an IT organization in terms of cyber security and risk.
  • High flexibility, including willingness to travel up to 10% of working time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Related certifications (e.g., GSEC, CISSP, GIAC, AWS) preferred.

Disclosure required under applicable municipal regulations in NY and NJ, as well as the law in Colorado: The salary range for this position starts at $130,000 and can be expanded based on factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
