The City of Mesa’s Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) is hiring a Cybersecurity Information Technology (IT) Engineer I that will provide a high level of skilled technical services and support a variety of areas within the Security team. This position will report to the IT Manager in Security.
The Engineer I class assigned to Security provides skilled technical services in support of installation, configuration, testing, integration, and ongoing support for City applications or infrastructure within the technical support area of Security.
About the Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have two plus years of experience in Cybersecurity. Strong sense of professionalism and ethics; have good technical skills and the aptitude to work independently; have very good verbal and written communication skills including presenting to large groups of people; three to five years implementing enterprise-wide security solutions; experience in Splunk, PCI Scanning, tools, and remediation plans; experience with Palo Alto UTM or next generation firewalls; experience with application scanning tools; familiarity with network architecture concepts, IDS/IPS, PCI compliance, Security log analysis, network scanning, and business user customer service experience; and have a good working knowledge of network and server fundamentals. Additionally, some experience with SMTP and SIP messaging using Microsoft based technologies will be a plus.
Minimum Qualifications Required. Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, or a related field, such as Engineering or Geography. Considerable (3 - 5 years) computer systems experience in at least one of the following technical support areas: Applications, Database, Desktop, GIS, Help Desk, Network, Security, Server, Service Desk, Telecommunications, or Web.
Special Requirements. For this position, an individual receiving a conditional offer of employment from the City of Mesa must pass a background investigation through the City of Mesa Police Department, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and Federal Bureau of Investigation prior to commencing employment with the City of Mesa. Because of the confidential, sensitive nature of information handled, successful completion of a background investigation is required. Must possess a valid Class D Arizona Driver’s License by hire or promotion date.
