Secmation is looking for experienced Cybersecurity Software Development Engineers who will be an instrumental part of our development teams. At Secmation you will aid in the design, development, implementation and testing of security solutions for embedded systems, devices and Defense applications; not configure IT security systems.

​

In this hands-on software development role, you will work with the Secmation management team, internal development teams, subcontractors, and customers to aid in the development of advanced technical concepts. While familiar with cybersecurity policies/processes, your specialty is hands-on secure software development for embedded systems. You will be involved in applications including development of cybersecurity engineering tools, advanced simulation, autonomous systems, and protection of advanced AI/ML software. Your knowledge of cybersecurity technologies and their vulnerabilities enables you to develop the secure software needed to protect systems from modern threats.

A successful Senior Cybersecurity Software Development Engineer will work closely with the management team to ensure technical execution of existing programs. The career path for this position includes more senior-level technical lead opportunities as the Company continues to grow.

This is a full-time hybrid work-from-home position located in DC Metro area, Raleigh, NC, or Huntsville, AL. Workdays are Monday through Friday (workdays and hours may vary based on project needs).

Requirements

• Current DoD Security Clearance Required (any level)
• BS or higher, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
• 7+ years of progressive work experience in embedded software development in systems programming, design, coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting targeting ARM or similar architectures and various platforms.
• 5+ years' experience with software/security development in embedded projects based on C/C++ using Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
• Strong C/C++ programming skills with design and implementation of security controls across different development platforms.
• Hands-on technical role on contracts with DoD laboratories/organizations (e.g. Air Force Research Laboratory, Office of Naval Research, Army Futures Command).
• Expert level knowledge in cybersecurity technologies.
• Ability to interact and integrate with a geographically distributed technical team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Comfortable presenting complex technical topics to customers, presenting at conferences, and developing technical documentation.

As a member of the Secmation software product development team, you will work with our engineering teams and be involved in applications including development of cybersecurity engineering tools, advanced simulation, self-driving vehicles, and protection of advanced AI/ML software. You don’t configure/manage the security of embedded devices, you design, develop, implement, and test their security solutions. Required Qualifications:

• BS or higher, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
• 2+ years of progressive work experience in embedded software development in systems programming, design, coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting targeting ARM or similar architectures and various platforms.
• Knowledge of computer and network security principles such as cryptography and intrusion prevention.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills with design and implementation of security controls across different development platforms.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as a self-starter or part of a small team and execute complex development tasks with limited supervision.
• U.S. citizenship required. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance due to contractual requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Progressive experience developing and implementing computer and network security systems using Linux and real-time operating systems.
• Detailed knowledge of security features in operating systems, hypervisors, computing architectures, and System On Chip (SoC) devices.

• Collaborate with line of PISOs and engineering leadership on roadmaps, and processes with your diverse Cybersecurity skills and perspectives to achieve common goals.
• Help accelerate Understand the AppSec cloud deployment costs and business impacts of the technologies and solution you are proposing, keeping business benefits and the InfoSec priorities paramount.
• Research and knowledge of security best practices in IT environments, including with next-generation firewalls, IDS/IPS and threat management, remote access, Citrix, IPSec VPN, Web filtering.
• Develop Zero Trust network principal including strategy development, roadmaps, presentations, and technical/non-technical documentation.
• Support to cloud native networking, orchestration/automation, and network architecture modernization.
• Develops and coordinates strategies to increase Infrastructure Security knowledge throughout Store, non-store, as well as developing and mentoring junior staff engineers.
• Provide continuous improvement recommendations and risk mitigations for ZTNA implementation across all security pillars.
• Leads and develops infrastructure security standards and cloud access policies in partnership with other teams.
• You will collaborate to networking a long-term security roadmap for our products to ensure suitability for the customer we serve.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in an AppSec, and cloud Management of architecture/engineering, or similar role.
• Solid understanding of Terraform, Kubernetes, Golang and Python and best practices.
• 10+ years of experience in a AppSec engineering, securing infrastructure Platforms, program management, network engineering, or similar role.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with Zero trust architecture, Firewall, IDS/IPS model, creation and maintenance of large network flow diagrams, communicating and collaboration in enterprise environments.
• Solid experience conducting enterprise security review, network access models in private and public cloud environments.
• Solid experience with next-generation A/V, EDR/XDR, PKI, SSL/TLS, NAC, Microsoft Certificate Services.
• Plan, research and design security architectures risks and roadmaps to senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior participation or responsibility for audits and assessments such as PCI, SOX, HIPPA, etc.
• Familiarity with industry benchmarks and certifications such as CISO zero trust maturity, CIS top20, NIS-CSF, etc.
• Hands-on Proficiency with automation within Python (Ansible), PowerShell are preferred.

The position will be based in Pleasanton, CA, Phoenix, AZ or Plano, TX.

The salary range is $ 182,400 to $ 247,800 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation Pay (accrued based on hours worked) or Flexible Time Off, paid holidays (8-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (such as 401(k) eligibility).
