Summary and company overview

About Datadog

We're on a mission to build the best observability platform in the world for engineers to understand and scale their systems, applications, and teams. We operate at high scale—trillions of data points per day—providing always-on alerting, metrics visualization, logs, and application tracing for tens of thousands of companies. Our engineering culture values pragmatism, honesty, and simplicity to solve hard problems the right way.

The Opportunity

As a Staff Engineer on the New Workloads team, you will facilitate new product offerings by identifying opportunities, researching technologies, and bootstrapping initiatives. We are looking for someone who stays in touch with industry trends and demonstrates the ability to conduct deep research in novel areas. Additionally, you will need to execute quickly and efficiently on greenfield work while enhancing the effectiveness of your teammates.

This role is for a product-oriented engineer who can go beyond prototypes and take products from 1 to N, scaling our offerings to meet customer needs. Existing initiatives include GPU monitoring and granular monitoring for S3 buckets, with a deep product backlog of opportunities to explore, such as high-performance computing and infrastructure as code.

Responsibilities

  • Help research, design, and prototype product initiatives in new markets for Datadog and evaluate their opportunities
  • Build, launch and operate products that have significant revenue potential for Datadog such as GPU Monitoring
  • Act as a force multiplier for product development across the stack
  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers across Datadog to build features that exceed our customers’ expectations across the product suite.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • You have a BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • You have several years of experience leading cross-team initiatives in a platform or infrastructure-focused environment
  • You have a product delivery oriented mindset and strong customer empathy
  • You have led the design and delivery of industry-leading systems

Additional commentary

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits and Growth

  • Competitive global benefits
  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)

Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.
