Learning & Development Specialist

Job Description

Based on identified training needs in the Customers for Life business segment/global functions, works with leadership and project teams to assess, design, develop, evaluate and / or acquire content, and assist with the delivery readiness of leadership / management, soft skills, and / or technical training programs. Audiences are internal company employees.  Tests and refines course content by delivering pilot training to sample participants; also delivers train-the-trainer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct global focus groups to validate and prioritize training needs.
  • Contributes to the employee experience process, which includes needs assessment, class design, development, implementation, reporting, and continuous improvement and innovation of learning solutions.
  • Assists with the alignment of development priorities based on the needs of the business / functions and employee engagement analysis.
  • Creating/maintaining Google sites for onboarding, career development, learning events
  • Event coordination for on-site and virtual learning programs
  • Tracks and reports monthly and quarterly L & D progress against project plans and metrics.
  • Participates in administration and business impact analyses of alternative learning solutions. (e.g., O’Reilly Learning, LinkedIn Learning, Litmos, etc.).
  • Supports the research, planning, design, and execution of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Provides leadership to project teams as appropriate.
  • Builds relationships and collaborates across SUSE to minimize overlap in learning offerings.
  • Supports achievement of operational goals and assigned metrics per the L & D Team Charter.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • First level university degree.
  • 3-5 years in a training development role or 2-4 years experience at SUSE that includes the management of moderate to large complex projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong facilitation, creative content design, and consulting skills.
  • Strong business and complex project planning acumen.
  • Ability to execute a project from beginning to end.
  • Strong leadership, communication, change management, relationship management, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand new, complex tools, technologies, and systems.
  • Strong acumen of Google Suite of tools including Google Sites and Google Forms.
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision but speaks up when there are obstacles.
