Athena Technology Group (ATG) is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to join our NIWIC team at Charleston, SC.  The Cybersecurity Engineer’s primary function is to support the NIWC’s Cybersecurity program.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, and ensure compliance with cybersecurity policy, to include Assessment and Authorization requirements.
  • Plan, implement, upgrade, and/or monitor cybersecurity measures to improve cyber defense and maintain a cyber-resilient network.
  • Assess cybersecurity vulnerabilities for risks and propose and implement remediation actions or risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure appropriate security controls are in place that will safeguard digital files and electronic infrastructure.
  • Respond to computer security breaches to re-establish protections and make required reports.
  • Implement, manage, and maintain current/future Cybersecurity standards and best practices.
  • Support Joint & Co-Use Cybersecurity activities and information requests.
  • Support the sponsorship of new services and facilities as needed.
  • Provide engagement with external and internal resources to review, support, and monitor incidents.
  • Provide prioritization of efforts through threat-informed intelligence and reporting.
  • Direct engagement with CYBERCOM, DISA J34, Department of Defense Information Networks-Joint Forces Headquarters (DODIN-JFHQ), Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP), and C2.
  • Enforce the design and implementation of trusted relations among external systems and architectures.
  • Help facilitate and prioritize interactions between CSPs and Government entities to prioritize the review of authorization packages.
  • Plan daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
  • Be receptive to all training made available by the company for self-development.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, or Mathematics with a concentration in computer science or equivalent, depending on PWS tasking.
  • Certified as Information Assurance Management (IAM) or Information Assurance Technical (IAT) or Information Assurance System Architect and Engineer (IASAE) Level I (position-based) per DoD 8570.1M and subsequent DoD 8140 manual.
  • Ten (10) years of notable experience preparing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity policy, including Assessment and Authorization requirements.
