Position Purpose

This role involves monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents, as well as implementing security measures to safeguard our members' information.

Responsibilities

  • Sets and Monitors the Department's Standards
  • Identifies improvements and efficiency of the organization, cybersecurity products, processes and systems.
  • Provides cybersecurity support to ITS Teams during and after business hours.
  • Technical Skills
  • Assist in the evaluation, development, and implementation of new services and products.
  • Identifies opportunities for security processes or solutions and assesses them for security, technical and business suitability.
  • Advocate for cybersecurity throughout the organization.
  • Investigate and respond to reports of security incidents, malware infections, phishing attacks, and unauthorized access attempts.
  • Assist staff with evaluating potential phishing emails.
  • Monitor security alerts and events leveraging various security tools throughout their investigation.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Review vulnerability assessments on the credit union's systems and networks.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to remediate identified vulnerabilities and ensure timely remediation.
  • Assist in the preparation of security and organizational audits.
  • Conduct security awareness training sessions for employees to promote a culture of security within the organization.
  • Develop educational materials and communications to keep staff informed about the latest security threats and best practices.
  • Identify and assess potential security risks to the credit union.
  • Recommend and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect against data breaches and cyber-attacks.
  • Responsible to conduct, refresh and enhance phishing simulations for the organization.
  • Assist in DLP initiatives within the organization.
  • Generate documentation for processes, procedures and systems within the cybersecurity team.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure a cohesive, collaborative approach to cybersecurity.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or related field.
  • Proficiency in using security tools and technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Initiative-taking with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
  • Ability to analyze, research, and resolve technical problems.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgement and decision making.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as Security+ are a plus but not required.

  • Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Office environment with moderate to high level of noise.
  • Frequent use of telephone, computer, multifunction printer, and other office machines.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing, and ability to stay in one place or work in a confined area for extended periods.
  • Frequent mental and visual concentration.
  • May travel occasionally to branches for projects, meetings, seminars, or conferences.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for over 90 percent of work time.
  • Some work to be performed outside of normal business hours.
  • Moderate lifting of up to 50 pounds. Also, ability to transport objects weighing between 5 and 50 pounds for 5 to 10 percent of work time.
  • NOTE: This job has the potential to work from home, contingent upon supervisor approval. Approval will be based on the Work from Home Policy eligibility requirements as well as the department needs.
