Security Operations Center Incident Responder

The Opportunity:

Are you ready to take a strategic role in cyber defense? Are you looking for an opportunity to protect critical infrastructure from the constant onslaught of cyber-attacks? If you want to sharpen your skills by analyzing threats in real-time, you want to be a Cybersecurity Operations Center Incident Responder.

As a Cybersecurity Operations Center Incident Responder on our security operations center team, you’ll improve tier monitoring strategies and analyze threats, using state-of-the-art tools and platforms. You’ll work with the team to comprehend, mitigate, and respond to threats quickly, restoring operations and limiting the impact. You’ll manage efforts to figure out just how many systems are affected and assist recovery efforts. You’ll combine threat intelligence, event data, and assessments of events to identify patterns to understand attackers’ goals to stop them from succeeding. This is a great opportunity to continue to build your cybersecurity skills with hands-on experience in threat assessment and incident response. Join us as we protect clients from malicious actors.

In this role, you’ll work with a team of professionals as they use cyberspace capabilities to evaluate potential weaknesses as well as the effectiveness of mitigations for cybersecurity solutions. You will leverage cyberspace operations systems to aggregate threat feeds that inform briefings for senior leadership aligned with our Army client.

You Have:

  • Experience with U.S. Government, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Intelligence Community, and U.S. Army Cybersecurity regulations and compliance standards
  • Experience writing and publishing after action reviews, and performing cyber defense trend analysis and reporting
  • Ability to use discovered data to enable mitigation of potential cyber defense incidents within the enterprise
  • Ability to coordinate incident response functions, forensically sound collection of images, and inspection to discern possible mitigation or remediation on enterprise systems
  • Ability to receive and analyze network alerts from various sources within the enterprise and determine possible causes of such alerts
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Cybersecurity field and 2+ years of experience conducting Cybersecurity Incident Response tasks, or 4+ years of experience conducting Cybersecurity Incident Response tasks in lieu of a degree
  • CSSP Incident Responder Certifications such as CEH, CFR, CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA-Security, CHFI, CySA+, GCFA, GCIH, SCYBER, or PenTest+ Certification

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience using Elastic for monitoring and analysis
  • Experience using endpoint tools to successfully hunt for adversarial behavior
  • Knowledge of Splunk and creating Splunk content, including alerts and dashboards
  • Ability to understand and assist Threat Hunting using network and host-based information
  • Ability to communicate with other stakeholders within the Army Intelligence and Security Enterprise (AISE)
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
  • Master’s degree
  • Splunk, Tanium, or TYCHON Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. What’s the role?

As an IT Network Security Engineer, you get to work with an astonishing team that plays a vital role in Carl Zeiss Inc. Show case your skills and experience with process enhancement with performing IT Security engineering, design, configuration, administration, and project management for the Americas region. Will be focusing on Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks, Internet Access, Data Firewalls and Data Network infrastructure following ZEISS requirements, procedures and standards. The IT Network Security Engineer is part of the first line of defense against unauthorized access from outside sources and potential security threats through identification, preparation, and mitigation of such threats.

  • Plan and deliver IT Network Security projects in support of ZEISS Segments and Strategic Business Units, Regional IT and Global IT.
  • Translate business challenges and problems into solutions based on Secure Data Network standards and solutions.
  • Draft, design and detail out IT Security and network related concepts and solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of business operations to implement, enhance, maintain, or repair IT Security for Communication and Data Network solutions.
  • Respond and resolve second level support service request and incident escalations that require IT Security and Data Networking expertise.
  • Perform troubleshooting which may involve previous known and new yet unresolved issues, applying engineering thinking and problem-solving for IT Security
  • Manage, maintain, evaluate, test, debug and implement IT Security and networking services in support of ZEISS functional areas including, but not limited to finance, manufacturing, materials, marketing, accounting, or human resources.
  • Form productive relationships with BG stakeholders by listening, clarifying, and responding effectively to provide IT Security and Networking solutions or solve issues/problems.
  • Effectively communicate with users to determine the actual nature, or underlying cause, of a problem.
  • Form productive networks with other groups in Regional IT, Global IT, and vendors to address organizational needs.
  • Explain IT Network Security procedures effectively to users and new team members.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of professional experience in LAN/WAN, Internet Access for multi-site organizations
  • CompTIA Security+ Professional training or equivalent
  • Experience supporting Cisco Routers, Switches, Firewall equipment is a must
  • Experience in network, server and infrastructure administration, configuration, deployment and management with focus on security aspects
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to coordinate multiple priorities; and good written and oral skills in English language
  • Ability to use professional concepts and apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to determine appropriate action and obtain solutions.
  • Ability to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

The annual pay range for this position is as follows:

Dublin, CA $107,000 - $133,000

Minneapolis, MN $74,000 - $93,000

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.

  • Description of the threat model
  • Cybersecurity summary

  • Architecture diagram view creation, review and release
  • Cybersecurity risk management plans

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience in cybersecurity and/or regulatory
  • Technical writing experience in a medical device environment
  • Ability to create scripts and leverage tools such as Black Duck, and Coverity to perform analysis and reporting in support of creating required FDA documentation.
  • Experience using the NIST vulnerability database
  • Basic software scripting skills in Python, or Perl

Preferred Qualifications:
